Work Smarter, Not Harder

Exhausted by complicated protocols? Let me simplify the overwhelm.

I offer practical, methodical care for anyone ready to trust that less — fewer supplements, fewer tests — can truly be more.

My Approach

I’ve spent over a decade working with functional medicine practices that leaned heavily on supplement stacks and extensive lab panels.

It wasn’t until I started asking patients — what actually made the difference? — that a clear pattern emerged.

> 70% of patients attributed their improvement to how they understood and related to their health challenges — not a supplement or test result.

That finding reshaped everything. My approach is rooted in methodical, evidence-informed care. I always take your mindset, values, and beliefs into consideration for any lab or treatment, and believe that education and sustainable practices can do more for our health than handfuls of supplements or strict lifestyle protocols.

I have experience in addressing almost any symptom or condition via functional medicine, and am particularly passionate about what I call the “G.A.M.E.” changers:

  • Gut-brain health (including Alzheimer’s Disease prevention/early treatment, anxiety/depression)
  • Autoimmunity (including immune imbalances triggered by response to microbes such as Covid)
  • Metabolic/Mitochondria (including fatigue, pain)
  • Environmental/Endocrine/Eu-Aging (including hormone replacement therapy or optimization)

Conditions I Treat

I have personally experienced the ups and downs of having an autoimmune thyroiditis.

My approach to thyroid health is to:

  1. Start with optimizing thyroid hormone levels, to help symptoms improve, and thyroid imaging to rule out “red flags.” I use traditional prescriptions, natural desiccated thyroid, and compounding prescription options.
  2. Address the “ingredients” that lead to optimal thyroid hormone production and metabolism, and supporting the role the immune and nervous system play in thyroid function.
  3. Work on finding the primary suspected triggers of thyroid autoimmunity, often starting with the gut as well as where a patient may not be using their voice (the thyroid is in the area where our voice box is located!)

Note, I work with patients with hyperthyroidism/Graves disease, but the effects of Graves can occur rapidly (e.g. “bulging eyes,” issues with the heart) so I require patients be established with an endocrinologist who can monitor for those sudden potential effects.  My role in these cases is to prescribe medication as needed, work on getting someone off medication, and putting the autoimmune process into remission.

This includes:

  • High cholesterol (hyperlipidemia)
  • Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • Insulin resistance

This includes:

  • MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome)
  • Suspected mycotoxin-induced illness
  • Heavy metal exposure and gentle oral chelation

My approach to perimenopause:

  1. Take a deep dive evaluation into the top 3 symptoms a patient is experiencing, and initiate treatments based off symptoms (while waiting on test results).
  2. I run bloodwork, but I prefer dynamic hormone testing (e.g. Mira) where hormones can be checked daily to see the patterns.  Blood testing only looks at one moment in time, and a treatments such as hormone replacement therapy shouldn’t be initiated based off one set of bloodwork results.
  3. Address the other key systems that impact hormone production and metabolism (gut, nervous system, environment).

I prescribe all types of hormone replacement therapy, including compounding creams, oral forms (even “bioidentical” estradiol), patches, and injections (although injections are last resort).

This includes:

  • PCOS (now called PMOS)
  • Infertility
  • Menstrual disorders
  • Fibroids (although this is very difficult to address, and often requires significant changes to diet)
  • Endometriosis stage 1 and 2 (similar to fibroids, very difficult to address)
  • Low testosterone in men

I received training via Dr. Dale Bredesen’s initial ReCODE framework, and have a personal interest in addressing neurocognitive issues.

Conditions include:

  • Early cognitive decline/dementia (with caregiver support)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADHD/ADD

Note, there is no magic pill for any of these.  To improve these symptoms and conditions, lifestyle modification is a key element.  If a patient is unwilling to modify lifestyle habits, I am not the best practitioner for that patient.

This includes:

  • Optimizing health span (i.e. longevity)
  • Actively working to prevent familial diseases (e.g. Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease)
